I came across Mega Man almost entirely by luck: my parents had rented the very first NES game at a local video store. I was hooked immediately. The option to take down whatever boss you wanted before online guides were prevalent merely scratches the surface of why this series has stayed with me throughout my life. From the catchy music and bright aesthetics to the labyrinthine meticulous level design, I have much of the franchise burned in my memory. Over time various teams would take the core tenants of Mega Man and innovate, as seen in brilliant subseries like Legends, ZX and .EXE. It's a series that grew with its audience over time and with the advent of Mega Man 11, it's poised to take a new journey with the next generation of fans.

I love Mega Man because when I was a kid I thought the robot masters had the coolest background music! I’d listen to Spark Man and Snake Man’s stages from Mega Man 3 everyday on the bus with my game boy on “pause” in my pocket.

I was in love with Megaman as soon as I popped Megaman X4 into my PS1 for the first time. My favorite thing about the series has to be the Music and character designs. You know you're in for some fast paced fun right at the start screen. I was super happy playing Mega Man 11 this year and seeing how well it blended old and new ideas. Hopefully we get to see the Blue Bomber reach his 40th anniversary and beyond.

1991. That was the year I fell in love with the Blue Bomber, countless nights at Grandma's house playing Mega Man II. Even the thought of Mega Man always brings me back to simpler times when life wasn't as confusing. Growing up, my love for Mega Man grew and grew and grew. He was my video game friend. And I, his ally. I fell out of gaming for a few years, and when I saw a dusty NES with a box full of games while cleaning some stuff out of Grandma's storage space, I saw that cart again. The dorky dude in blue, holding that gun, pointed at Quick Man and Wily hiding behind Crash Man for some all came rushing back. And plugging that console into a CRT I had found at Goodwill solidified the love that I had for not only Mega Man, but retro gaming as a whole. I began collecting everything Mega Man that I could. He's everywhere. Decals all over my car. Perler bead recreations of sprites adorn my recording studio and all over my apartment. The love of my life with a Mega Man Dia de Los Muertos tattoo on her forearm. Fan art adorning every open spot on my walls. And my China cabinet with a dedicated shelf of Mega Man schwag. It all contributes to my allegiance to Dr. Light's greatest creation: Rock.

Mega Man has power over all elements and so many other incredible powers, from launching meteors to freezing time itself. Yet he's humble, kind, gentle, and happy. He has the strongest sense of justice I've ever seen. A true hero that changed my life forever! I will always be grateful for all the good times I spent with him, helping to save the world! Mega Man is the best! He's truly the super fighting robot!

Mega Man has been there with me as I grew up. My first memories of a mega man game was Mega man X. My cousins had a copy. While playing for the first time I was introduced in to Zero. My older cousins telling me that X and Zero we're brothers. As a little kid I believed it. I always believed that I was X and my older cousin who was like my older brother was Zero. To see how strong Zero was compared to X made me believe in the game and in person that I could be as strong as Zero/ My big brother. I remember my parents buying me my own play station with mega man 8, and mega man X5. I remember beating the games to just play them again from the beginning. My parents even told me that I used to run like mega man at sporting events, because I wanted to be mega man! The thrill of getting Mega man battle network as a 10 year old was amazing, and really brought out my love for a more advanced turn base system (fan more than any Pokemon game has done). After all the hard battles and progression we grow in life, it's like a pattern in any Mega Man level, after we beat that pattern and beat what has taken us down. Like Mega Man getting a power up, we grow as people through tough trials.

Mega Man means the perfect "never give up" and "fight for justice" type of game, because it sometimes can be hard as balls, but you keep trying to defeat the adversities and get better with time, and you fight to achieve world peace, and this can be associated with real life situations, but that's only the message. I love Mega Man too because of it's great gameplay and music, the gameplay never gets old, and that's why it hasn't changed at all (if we talk about about the main sagas: Classic ,X, Zero, ZX) it's just so fun to play every game, even the RPG games like BN, SF and Legends (I highly recommend these games). The music is my favorite thing in any game, and Mega Man's music inspires me a lot, I'm actually thinking of becoming a musician thanks to it, some themes make me feel happy, others make me sad, and I can even say it's the soundtrack of my life. So, summing up, Mega Man it's why I think videogames are art in some way, without this and many other franchises I wouldn't love games as much as I do, hell I would be playing COD and Fortnite now, so thanks Mega Man for being in my childhood!
